High Performance Point-to-Point Links w/ Redundancy |
| Industry: |
Public Safety - Fire Protection |
| Product(s): |
Long range PtP millimeter wave microwave radio (60GHz), 5GHz radio, link aggregation multiWAN router |
| Geography: |
U.S.A, Menlo Park, CA |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
Menlo Park Fire Protection district was interested in replacing their aging T1's and create a high performance link between existing site and a newly acquired site. The cost of laying a new fiber optic link was prohibitive.
To obtain the high performance - high reliability, high full duplex throughput and high security we used unlicensed 60GHz radios which offered exceptional physical security (narrow beamwidth) and data security (AES encryption). For redundancy we used an OFDM-based high performance 5GHz PtP link and bonded the two links for failover & load-balancing using an industry-leading multiWAN router. |

Remote Site Solar for Wireless Video Backhaul |
| Industry: |
Large Construction |
| Product(s): |
High datarate point-to-multipoint radios, off-grid solar, battery backup, outdoor ptz camera |
| Geography: |
Various sites in U.S |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
Gray Construction a leader in providing engineering, design and construction services to customers in the U.S. and around the world required a high performance PTZ camera to monitor construction sites before power and DSL/Cable/T1 drops were available. Due to the the large coverage zone we required a reliable and high datarate wireless radio link to backhaul live video for remote viewing in construction trailer and remotely at main office. We also required reliable 24x7 off-grid solar to power the system and backup batteries for 72hours of autonomy.
Rfwel's multidisciplinary teams were able to quickly come up with an effective solution that included correctly sizing solar grids per geography & loads and specifying sufficient battery capacity to address the high load demands of high performance Axis PTZ cameras. We also succesfully designed a near-line-of-sight (nLOS) unlicensed point-to-multipoint wireless radio link to backhaul the live video for offsite viewing and storage as well as to send power system status telemetry information. |

Emergency Response Trailer Communications |
| Industry: |
Federal Government (EPA) |
| Product(s): |
Mobile long-range wireless hotspots w/ combined 3G EVDO/HSPA and 4G WiMax/LTE backhaul |
| Geography: |
EPA Region 9 (Pacific Southwest) |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
For this project for EPA Region 9, Rfwel was tasked with outfitting Emergency Communication Trailers with mobile/nomadic wireless network for use inside the trailer and to provide a wireless hotspot to cover several hundred feet outside the trailer. We needed to utilize 3G/4G public carrier networks in such a way that we had reliable redundancy (since geography-specific signal coverage was not known apriori) as well as sufficient link-aggregation (load-balancing) to allow a good user experience for multiple concurrent users.
We used Peplink load-balancing routers, Cellular/WiMax 3G/4G modems, high gain Cellular/PCS/WiMax/LTE antennas, cellular RF bidirectional amplifiers and multiband diplexers to distribute multiple frequency band antennas using less cables and to same multiband modems. |

Oil & Gas |
| Product(s): |
Long range PtP bridges, Directional Antennas, Network Storage, Filters |
| Geography: |
U.S.A, Oklahoma City, OK |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
A major oil drilling company needed a solution to remotely view activity in a remote oil rig. This system needed to be rugged to withstand the harsh environment in the rig, good quality and low cost to justify replication in other sites.
They required equipment that was to be used to send two video feeds from
an oil drilling rig cabin to the clients office trailer approximately 300 feet apart. Each video feed was to supply the client with
numerous views of equipment throughout the drilling rig. The original video was
fed into the drilling cabin from eight cameras located throughout the rig which
displayed via two monitors in the drilling cabin for the driller to view
equipment they normally could not see from their view. Required equipment that could withstand the very rugged environment & potential RF interference from numerous other radios. |

Insurance |
| Product(s): |
Mobile broadband routers, Fixed Wireless Terminals, Cellular amplifiers, vehicle-mount cellular antennas. |
| Geography: |
U.S.A, Bloomington, IL |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
Statefarm the leading home and auto insurer in N. America was in need of a solution to improve the efficiency of its claim adjusters. They turned to Rfwel for a solution to outfit their fleet vehicles with mobile cellular routers and fixed cellular terminals which provided both data and voice connectivity while on the road. For agents in remote locations we added mobile cellular amplifiers and vehicle mount antennas to provide a reliable EVDO/HSDPA data connection at all times.
These systems provided Statefarm the ability to share a single cellular data connection between different incident responders which meant Statefarm could reduce their monthly data usage costs while providing a uniform usage experience across teams in diverse locations. |

Background
Up North Productions Inc. was interested to obtain an economical, reliable and high performance temporary WiFi hotspot and LAN network for their upcoming production. The WiFi hotspot was to cover various zones in the sprawling 5 acre fairground and campsite and to enable Internet connectivity of various ATM, Ticket Scanners, vendor booths & box offices at several venue entrances as well office equipment. The three day music and arts festival approximately was expected to attract five thousand attendees.
The two main challenges that RfWeL faced were how to economically & reliably backhaul the wireless network with enough speed for a good Internet experience and seamless gate & box office operations and how to cover such a large area with a reliable temporary setup with zero downtime and little management from the single on-site technician stationed at the event ... |

| Product(s): |
High Power 802.11 a/b/g AP's |
| Geography: |
U.S.A, Phoenix, Arizona |
| |
|
|
Background
Celebrity theatre one of Phoenix Arizonas most intriguing historing landmarks is a full-service 2,665 people capacity entertainment facility. They needed to provide a secure & isolated WiFi network at various entrances and regions within the facility to allow for portable hand-held ticket scanners. Since the scanners utilized an embedded 802.11a/b/g WLAN radio with no external antenna connections it was important to create a strong WiFi signal to reach the designated points where they needed to be used but without unduly interfering with other AP's & other WLAN's in the same 2.4GHz unlicensed band. |

| Geography: |
Various across rural U.S |
| |
|
| |
|
|
Background
A large privately held non-bank owned Mortgage Company approached us early one Friday afternoon to provide remote wireless Internet solutions to several new branches under construction in rural markets across the U.S. Many of these locations were well past their grand opening and for many the deadlines were rapidly approaching. T1 roll outs were in weeks to months! By monday afternoon RfWeL had enabled basic Internet in 5 locations and with a few tweaks had VPN and advanced networking features available end of day monday. By the end of week all locations within several miles of a cellular tower offering 3G data service were lit up. By the careful selection of cellular carrier, antenna, antenna orientation, amplifiers and enterprise-class multi-wan routers we were able to create a highly redundant, highly scaleable and high speed network that clearly wowed and eased the worry of edgy management. |
