The W1100 and W1120 Wireless WAN Gateways provide reliable access to wireless
data services for businesses and carriers. This cost effective solution is
designed for easy setup and operation with intuitive Graphical User Interface
(GUI). The wireless WAN interface is provided through a standard PCMCIA card.
The W1100 uses an external cellular data card and the W1120 has an internal data
card and external antenna to support the newest 3G services. The Ethernet LAN
interface provides standard connectivity to routers and other LAN equipment,
allowing use of
existing equipment.
To protect the network from intrusion, the W1100 and W1120 contain a Stateful
Packet Inspection firewall to identify and block attacks. The gateways include a
Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliance for encryption, enabling secure access
across the cellular network. With cellular data services becoming less expensive
and more accessible, there are many potential application uses. For some
businesses, applications require the flow of information in real time. The
business ceases to function when the network is unavailable.
The W1100 and W1120 are practical as a back-up to mission-critical networking
applications. It supports applications when the primary network fails, and the
speeds are better than other options, such as a modem or ISDN line. The W1100
and W1120 can also be used for primary access as a wireless router or as a
pass-through device to an existing router. The W1100 and W1120 enable mobile or
temporary work locations to obtain network access easily, even when a wireline
option isn’t feasible.
Wireless carriers need to continually have access to and manage cell sites,
ideally remotely. The W1100 and W1120 improve cell site network performance and
reliability through remote access for management over the cellular network. If a
cell site goes down, a technician can log in from anywhere to begin diagnostics
and reporting. This improves performance and technician efficiency, ultimately
reducing carrier costs.
