WiMax Antennas for 2.5, 3.5 & 3.65 GHz Bands

 
WiMax Logo WiMax, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, also known as IEEE 802.16, that is intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks". WiMAX can provide broadband wireless access (BWA) up to 30 miles (50 km) for fixed stations 802.16d, and 3 - 10 miles (5 - 15 km) for mobile stations 802.16e.

At RfWeL we specialize in long range BWA applications for various applications including SCADA/M2M, Video Surveillance Backhaul, Data Network Backhaul & Network Bridging Solutions.

The 802.16d fixed WiMAX standard has proven to be a stable and reliable wireless alternative for both private and public networks to traditional transport technologies such as DSL, Cable, or T-1 lines.

2.5 GHz WiMax Antennas

  The 2.5 GHz band in the U.S includes both Broadband Radio Service (BSR) and Educational Broadband Service (EBS). Sprint- Clearwire partnership controls most of this spectrum. These antennas are suitable for boosting indoor coverage of Clearwire 4G. Some antennas support both the cellular PCS 1.9GHz band and the WiMax 2.6GHz band so may be used for dual-band 3G/4G modems. Typically need to add a low-loss cable and a suitable connector to mate to the modem external antenna port (or to passively couple to internal antenna for some modems).   Note that the 3.5GHz band is currently not available in the U.S due to it's use for military applications. However 3.65-3.70 GHz is available as a lightly-licensed band. According to CFR, Part 90 rules of the FCC the 3650-3675 MHz for Restricted Protocol and 3650-3700 MHz for Unrestricted Protocol (note however that there exists 100km protection zones around grandfathered FSS earth stations and 80km around each of three federal government radiolocatoin stations).
